What Materials Do You Use?

We’re committed to offering high-quality chains and jewelry pieces designed to last with proper care. Every product is thoughtfully tested for durability before launching to ensure it can keep up with everyday wear. Below is a breakdown of the materials we use and what makes each one special.

Metal Education

GOLD FILLED vs GOLD PLATED

Gold filled jewelry features a thick layer of 14k gold pressure-bonded to a base metal, most commonly jewelers’ brass. It’s a popular choice for everyday wear because it offers the look and durability of solid gold at a more affordable price.

How it differs from gold plated:

  • Gold filled contains a substantial, legally regulated layer of 14k gold—at least 5% or 1/20 of the metal’s total weight.
  • This thick layer makes it more valuable and longer-lasting than gold plated jewelry, which only has a very thin layer of gold.
  • Because it is pressure bonded, gold filled jewelry is more resistant to tarnishing, chipping, and wear. When cared for properly, the finish will not flake or peel.

STERLING SILVER (925)

Sterling silver is made of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% alloy, usually copper. It is a precious metal known for its brightness and versatility.

What to know about sterling silver:

  • Though stronger than pure silver, it is softer than gold filled metals and may scratch if not handled with care.
  • Sterling silver naturally tarnishes when exposed to oxygen and certain chemicals—it happens even with the highest-quality pieces.
  • Your natural skin oils can actually help slow down tarnishing. However, individual body chemistry can occasionally cause quicker tarnish. Factors like hormones, medications, pregnancy, or thyroid conditions can all play a role.
